100K Subs Challenge Day 20

What is the most productive thing to do on any single working day? Go live in multiple platforms and present a popular topic. I get to kill 3 birds with one stone.

1. I get to post content without shooting, editing, and sharing. 

2. I get to record the raw footage for my next edited video.

3. I get in touch with my followers on the platforms immediately.

That's what happened today. The only thing I need to improve on is my presentation. I need to speak fluently without pausing for thinking.

 THE FULL SCRIPT

 In this video, we are going to compare the Zhiyun Smooth 4 with the MOZA Mini MX. We will be looking into the hardware, the software, and also how it performs in real life. The Zhiyun Smooth 4 and the MOZA Mini MX are handheld gimbal stabilizers for iPhones and Android smartphones. The primary purpose is to keep your phone steady while shooting videos on the move. Whenever I introduce this to people that have never heard of a smartphone gimbal, their first question is... "Is it heavy?" WEIGHT The Zhiyun Smooth 4 weighs 547g while the MOZA Mini MX is lighter at 412g. It's not heavy for me, but to some people it is. Well, it gets heavy after prolonged use. Towards the end of this video, I will introduce to you another gimbal that is truly lightweight. By the way, the weight I mentioned earlier does not include the phone. The bigger the phone, the heavier it becomes. Not all gimbals can carry big and heavy phones. That brings us to the next hardware specs. PAYLOAD Payload or payload capacity to the maximum weight of the phone the gimbal can carry. The flimsy arms will just stop working when the load is too heavy. The Zhiyun Smooth 4 can handle a phone up to 210g, while the MOZA Mini MX up to 280g. How heavy is your phone? Have you got the iPhone 12? The iPhone 12 Pro weighs 187g. So, these 2 gimbals can handle the iPhone 12 Pro. The iPhone 12 Pro MAX, the bigger one, weighs 226g. The Smooth 4 can handle up 210g. So if you have the iPhone 12 Pro MAX, this is not for you. You may consider the Mini MX because it can handle up to 280g. Now that we know the weight of the gimbals and the weight of the phones they can carry, the next thing to know is... how long can the battery last. BATTERY Both these gimbals have built-in rechargeable batteries that are not easily replaceable. When fully charged, the Zhiyun Smooth 4 can run for 12 hours while the MOZA Mini MX can run 20 hours. That's according to the specs on paper. The battery drainage could be faster depending on what we do with the gimbals. So, what do we do with the gimbals? STABILIZATION As I mentioned earlier, The primary purpose of a gimbal is to keep your phone steady while shooting videos on the MOVE. When you are just standing on a spot recording videos, you don't need a gimbal. The gimbal will be most useful when you are walking or running. Check out my walking and running test reviews in the description. They both do a job in their primary function, but I have one COMPLAINT. They both do not solve my walking bobbing up-down motion. I have to compensate for that on my own by walking like a ninja... knees bent, heel to toe, heel to toe. Hey! Why can't they make gimbals with the 4th axis? Right now, it's 3-axis. Pan left, pan right, tilt up, tilt down, and roll. The 4th axis should be, elevate up and elevate down. Other than just stabilizing our phones, we can control the gimbals to do a lot more other tricks. CONTROL PANEL On the Zhiyun Smooth 4, we can see 8 buttons, 1 handwheel, and 1 thumb dial. On the MOZA Mini MX, we see only 3 buttons and 1 joystick. Smooth 4 is obviously designed for people who want to have more control. If you are a sophisticated user and don't mind learning all the buttons, the Smooth 4 is for you. Check out my tutorials on how to use the Zhiyun Smooth 4 in the description. If you are a user that doesn't want to learn a lot of technical stuff and just want to get the gimbal working, then the MOZA Mini MX is for you. Now let's talk about the joystick. JOYSTICK With the joystick on the MOZA Mini MX, I can manually control the direction of my smartphone camera. Pan left and right, tilt up and down. On the Zhiyun Smooth 4, there is no joystick. 🤔 MODES When you first turn on the gimbals, they both go into the Pan-Follow mode. That means the phone follows your left-right pan motion and not the up-down tilt motion. That keeps the phone pointing forward all the time. So what if you want to shoot an action that is happening below? On the Mini MX, we press on the top left button once to go into pan-tilt follow mode. On the Smooth 4, we hold on to the lower trigger to go into the full follow mode. Now the gimbals follow your up-down tilt motion as well as the pan.
