The Report
The Main Challenge
- 📈 Yesterday - 22140. Up 11.
- 📈 Today - 22157. Up 17.
- 💰 Ad Revenue - less than yesterday
- What happened?
- YTVL Shorts are getting unsubscribes for the special effect Tiktok tricks... But ok for the gimbal demos. That means I should stop posting my Tiktok videos on my YTVL channel. Post relevant videos instead like gimbal demos.
- The video on Zhiyun smooth 4 and iPhone 12 pro max are getting a lot of subscribers. Search keyword "best gimbal for iPhone 12 pro max".
- What worked? Why?
- Live streaming on Twitch while working. Why? It gets me to focus on what needs to be done... as if someone is watching over me.
- What did not work? Why?
- I am less motivated to produce YouTube videos over the weekend. Why? I prefer to focus on family time. And maybe some quick Tiktok videos.
- I cannot produce more than one content in a day. Why? One content already takes up the whole day.
- What did you learn? What's trending?
- I can only do one content a day right now.
- Recorded Live streams and Shorts are not pushed by YouTube after posting, unlike regular uploaded videos. Why? I discovered the views just stop coming in.
- What can be done better? How?
- Focus on publishing one content a day plus 20x tiny spin-offs from that content.
- Edit my live streams and re-upload.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Edit live stream... https://youtu.be/fiLX5QJChrQ
- 👉🚧⚠️ Answer YT comments weekly. Stream on Twitch. Why? Build relationships with followers.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Create a CableCreation Video for YTVL and YTAVI.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Revert Zhiyun Smooth 4 to Aweber from Gumroad. Why? The auto-responder series generates return traffic. Add Buy Me a Coffee to replace Gumroad Pay What You Want.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Buy DJI OM4. Why? Stay relevant to Smartphone videography. Zhiyun Smooth 4 in the US is dwindling sometimes touching zero. (time to move on). DJI is the related search particularly DJI OM4 and DJI Mini 3 in the last 30 days. On a side note, DJI Osmo Pocket, and DJI Osmo Action are both even higher.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Review Mirfak Audio N4
- Stop posting Tiktok tricks on YTVL. The audiendience doesn't like it. Do short gimbal videos instead.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Make more videos on the best gimbal for iPhone 12 pro max.
- What's stopping you?
- Distractions from messages and notifications.
- How to overcome the challenge?
- Live stream on twitch whenever I start a new project.
Sub-challenge #1
- Yesterday
- All - 182 of 200 clicks 5 orders.
- YouTube - 24 of 100 clicks 0 order
- 0 refund
- Today
- All - 106 of 200 clicks 0 orders. 😱
- YouTube - 18 of 100 clicks 0 order
- 0 refund
- Overnight
- All - 0 order 😱
- YouTube - 0 order
- What happened yesterday?
- Getting close to the target of 200 clicks.
- What worked? Why?
- Affiliate sales are still mostly coming from the DVD printer blog post. Nothing to do with YouTube. There is no YouTube video about DVD printers. Why? The post is doing well on the Google search engine.
- Doodly sales are still ongoing. Why? Same reason as above.
- What did not work? Why?
- No orders coming in from YouTube although there are clicks. Why? Too few clicks are coming from YouTube to justify any sales.
- What did you learn? What's trending now?
- I am relying on one single post coming from just one traffic source. That's vulnerable.
- Google Trend in the last 90 days: Doodly vs Toonly, Doodly vs Videoscribe
- Google search engine appears to be promoting one single page from my website. Does that mean that if I want more pages to appear in Google search, I should have multiple websites?
- What can be done better? How?
- 👉🚧⚠️ Open an online DVD printer shop selling printers, inks, DVDs, cases, etc.
- Grow new traffic via email list and YouTube. Why? Can't rely on one single source of google traffic. The next best source of traffic is email list.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Post DVD printer reviews and tutorials on YTAVI.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Update blog or Create trending topics today. Doodly vs To only, Doodly vs Videoscribe
- Post content consistently with SEO titles descriptionstion.
- Build relationships with followers and not with the numbers.
- Make reviews, tutorials, and comparisons. (Stick with these formats for the monetization)
- Choose affiliate products that pay at least $30 per commission. Otherwise, it’ll just be hard to achieve $1000/week.
- Build an email list. Automate with an email auto-responder series. (Keep Aweber)
- 👉🚧⚠️ Continue reading... https://bloggingandblogs.quora.com/How-easily-can-one-earn-1000-Weekly-by-affiliate-marketing
- Maintain a professional-looking fast-loading website. (Consider moving VL website away from Bluehost to Siteground or WordPress)
- What's stopping you?
- The thought of doing time-consuming arduous research on something new.
- Trends will stop me. Doubting my topic may not attract viewers.
- How to overcome the obstacle?
- 😄Try this... Live stream on twitch while doing the research.
- Look at Google Trends often.
Sub-challenge #2
- Yesterday
- 329 of 1000 views.
- 16 of 100 downloads.
- 1 of 10 sales.
- Today
- 338 of 1000 views.
- 16 of 100 downloads.
- 0 of 10 sales.
- How many views coming from YouTube?
- 222 of 300 views
- What happened?
- Visitors are getting less from blogs and more from YouTube.
- What worked? Why?
- The free download offers works. Why? Free!
- What did not work? Why?
- Paid courses. Why? Maybe I need to send 7 follow-up emails first or I need to tell people about it.
- What did you learn? What is trending today?
- I may need to make very short courses based on what people are asking today.
- Cons of Aweber vs Gumroad:
- Paid subscription forever vs Gumroad free with limited service
- Must reveal my biz(home) address in email vs Gumroad brand in email
- Complicated to set up vs quick to set up
- Pro of Aweber vs Gumroad:
- Autoresponder series vs No autoresponder in free Gumroad
- My direction is to transit from a business entity to a creator entity.
- What can be done better? How?
- Identify what people want to learn today.
- My tiktok viewers want to learn how to do the Giant Walk video.
- Process:
- Create free course
- > invite viewer to download the pdf steps for this lesson via Aweber
- > send follow up email series for each recorded tutorial
- > in each email, sell the combined tutorials gumroad course
- What's going to stop you? What's the challenge?
- The process is too complicated for my mind to create.
- How to overcome the challenge?
- Write a process step by step checklist. So I know what's missing.
- Reminder to self - Why am I doing this Adsense and affiliate programs can shut down anytime, but I control the products I create.
- Redirect all AW's opt-in boxes with Gumroad links. (Change this - June 2021)
- Gumroad is where I place my free and paid digital downloads. Eg. E-courses.
- Gumroad is faster to manage than AW when targeting paid or free followers.
- Eventually, cancel AW's US$179/year (S$250) subscription before renewal on Dec 2021. (Change this - June 2021)
- One more thing - Subscribers on Gumroad can choose to pay for a free download if they want to support me... See this post for motivation... https://adrianvideoimage.blogspot.com/2021/03/day-123-of-my-100k-youtube-subscribers.html (Change this - June 2021 - just sell - all free downloads go to Aweber)
- Also, look out for Gumroad alternatives to sell my digital products.
- 👉🚧⚠️ Write to Gumroad followers every week to distribute traffic. (in place of autoresponders)
- 👉🚧⚠️ Consolidate my YouTube class lessons into the blueprint... https://gum.co/YTsecrets
Sub-challenge #3
- Yesterday.
- 59.7 K followers. 🎉
- Today.
- What's working?
- Post once a week on a trending topic.
- What has Tiktok got to do with YouTube? New YT subscribers are coming from Tiktok.
- What can be done better?
- Tap on Tiktok traffic.
- Invite viewers to watch the tutorial > live on one single platform - YTAVI > set a live schedule > invite social media followers > CTA download PDF in live stream
More Challenges
- Daily live multi-stream.
- StreamLabs OBS installed on 20 June 2021 on MacBook Pro
- Issues: lip-sync with Facetime webcam on Twitch.
- What could be better: try streamlabs obs settings at 30 frames per second, 2500 Kbps, and Apple H264 Hardware encoder.
- 22 June 2021: The FaceTime WebCam still lags after switching the above settings. This is streaming on twitch only directly from the MacBook Pro.
- Try with facetime video capture device "Use Buffering" setting unchecked.
- Test the same setup with OBS Studio
- 10K LinkedIn followers.
- Sell my videos as NFT.
- Podcast.
PS:
- Use these 10 query words in front of keywords when researching on Google Search... What, Who, When, Where, Why, How, Which, Will, Are, and Can.
- I am repeating my mistakes. Trying to edit my live videos and wasting time. Don't.
- Set habit goals instead of destination goals.
- Streaming and YouTube are my lifestyles.
- Tiktok tip - If your account is getting a lot of views and you are not engaging with the comments, Tiktok will stop showing your videos to more people. So I started replying the all the comments that were left in the last 3 days.
- Whatever we post now will see fruits 3 to 6 months later. How long the fruits last depends on the topic.
- I can do one thing at a time. Cannot multi-task.
- Drop everything at 5 pm. Switch my mind to a different topic. Switchback tomorrow morning. 🥰
- The top three gimbals people are searching for DJI OM4, Zhiyun smooth 4, and Zhiyun smooth Q2.
- These are the topics with million searches. Other brand gimbals videos are slowing down my viewership.
- Should I buy the DJI OM4? Is the DJI OM5 coming out soon? The DJI OM4 was released in August 2020, so expect the DJI OM5 to be announced around August 2021. Buy DJI OM4. The number #1 talked about gimbal.
I attended a class conducted by YouTube and this is what I have learned.
10 fundamentals of a YouTube creative strategy to build a loyal fan base.
Three basic categories:
- Get viewers
- Keep viewers happy
- Keep yourself happy
Objectives:
- A guide to developing new creative ideas for your YouTube channel.
- A process to help improve your existing videos.
- A tool for evaluating all your creative ideas.
- This is not a checklist. You don't have to do every step to be successful on YouTube.
- The strategy is for you to adapt and modify because every channel is different.
1. Make Shareable Videos - Will viewers share this video?
Popular videos become popular because they are shareable. By shareable, I'm not talking about the share button... but how to influence your viewer to click on it. Here are 5 ways to get your viewer to share your video.
✅ 1. Be up to date - What's going on in the world or your industry right now? How you can add your unique spin to it? ✅ 2. Be relatable - Let people feel relatable to you. You could think about showing your face in your video if you haven't. ✅ 3. Be valuable - Provide the information that people came to your video for. Give something unique to your channel. ✅ 4. Be remarkable - Think about the videos that stand out for you. What is the one thing that makes them stand out? What is the one thing you want your videos to stand out for? ✅ 5. Tell your viewer to share - Towards the end of your video, after you have completed giving out your information, simply tell your viewer to share the video if they like it.
If you like the information that I just shared above, click the thumbs-up and share this post. 😄
- The difference between YouTube and movies or TV shows is that there is no barrier between you and your audience. Your audience can leave comments and you can interact with them.
- Viewers see their favorite YouTubers as friends on their computers.
- Talking to your audience is powerful because it builds loyalty and repeats views.
- Allocate parts of your videos where you talk directly to your audience. Not about the content of the video but about what your audience wants to hear from you. Thank them. Ask questions about what you have just presented. Share updates. Ask how they are doing.
3. Interactivity
- Think of a way to make your follower feel they are included in your content.
- Do it by asking in the Community tab or through the pinned comment in your video.
- Ask them what they like to see from you. Ask them to DM you on other platforms.
4. Consistency
- Focus on quality over quantity.
- Consistency includes regular upload schedules, show format, personality, and theme.
- Can you develop a series that people will stay and watch continuously?
5. Targeting
- Do I have a clearly defined target audience? Who do I think is perfect for my video?
- Check your audience demographic in your YouTube Analytics.
- Target your audience by topic, location, or age group.
- Create content that is appealing to the specific group.
6. Sustainability
- Your YouTube channel is a long-term journey. There will be times you lose interest or burn out.
- What is your topic performing videos? How can you do more of them?
- What is easy to shoot? What is realistic? What fits into your time commitment?
- Which format can you stick with?
- Be conversational. Develop an easily repeatable format.
- Think of a topic that people are consistently searching for g instead of a one-off type of event.
7. Discoverability
- How to be seen by more people?
- Include trending topics in your videos.
- Use Google Trends.
- Insert your country and see what people are searching for.
- Insert keywords and see what people are searching for around those keywords.
- Make content with the ideas from the trend.
- Remember to create evergreen content too.
- Optimize your videos with effective titles, tags, and descriptions.
8. Accessibility
- Make every video stand-alone even if it is in a series.
- Present a brief recap if the video is part of a bigger series.
- Make a strong call to action pointing to other episodes.
9. Collaboration
- One of the fastest ways to grow subscribers on YouTube is to collab with those with followers.
- Feature them in your videos.
10. Inspiration
- Do you genuinely feel for the content you are putting together?
How YouTube recommends videos to people 2021
YouTube recommendation system is designed to:
1. Help each viewer find videos that they want to watch. It does not help videos find viewers. The focus is on the audience.
2. Maximise long-term viewer satisfaction. Make sure that people are sticking around longer and keep coming back to YouTube.
2011: Clicks and views - spoiled by misleading titles and thumbnails.
2012: Watchtime - users spend more time on things they enjoy.
2015: to 2021: Satisfaction - Watch time is important but YouTube wants viewers to be satisfied with the time they spend on YouTube.
Satisfaction?
Not all watch time is equal.
Viewers also have the option to choose "not interested" or "don't recommend channel".
More satisfaction signals are likes/dislikes and shares.
Most traffic comes from Home and Suggested.
Go to YouTube analytics, said it to 90 days, and see where your traffic is coming from.
Optimize your videos for home and suggestions.
How to optimize your video for YouTube Home.
- Upload consistently
- Create high engagement.
- Satisfy other similar viewers.
- Get viewers coming back to watch more videos from your channel.
How to optimize your video for YouTube Suggestion.
- Develop a series of videos.
- Have consistent titles and thumbnails.
- And with a call to action to subscribe and watch more videos from your channel.
- Make use of playlists and end screens.
- Recommend your audience to watch your playlist.
- YouTube suggests videos that usually watch together.
Viewers also discover your videos from different places.
- How-to videos are mostly discovered from Search.
