Day 5 | How to get clicks on affiliate links | 23K YouTube Subs Challenge

Today, I learned about affiliate marketing best practices on social media as a Shopee Ambassador... aka Shopee affiliate. 

Tips on how to attract your audience and get them to check out your affiliate link:

  1. Share your experience. Think of a recent product that you bought. What do you like about the product? Does the product solve any difficulties? 
  2. Promote with video.  Help your audience visualize the product and excite them to check out your links. Use your mobile phone camera. 
  3. Improve content quality. Use the product and capture it in action to gain trust from your followers. Use natural light and plain background.   4. Add animated stickers. Use animated stickers or GIFs to make your daily content fun. Search #shopee on social media for free stickers. 
  5. Include a call to action. Mention in your post to check out your bio. Direct your followers to click on your affiliate link whether it’s in bio or a swipe-up. 
  6. Use popular hashtags. Use popular hashtags to attract new audience.
  7. Tag a @brand. Tag a brand to get a chance to be mentioned in their posts.

Effective ways to boost traffic and increase conversion from your affiliate links on social media:

  • Place your affiliate link under your IG bio.
  • Use linktr.ee to showcase multiple products. 
  • Use flow.page to showcase various types of content.
  • Use IG’s Highlights function to list your product recommendations. 
  • If you have at least 10K followers on IG, or have a verified account, you can link your stories to your affiliate links. 
  • Recommend products in Facebook interest groups.
  • Create a Google Document and link it to your IG Bio. 
  • Consolidate links under your social media platform description box.

Content Ideas: 

  • Answer questions.  Answer frequently asked questions and show the benefits of the product. This gives potential buyers the information they need to make the purchasing decision. 
  • Feature products that are trending. 
  • Feature products that you can use in other content. 
  • Recreate a celebrity look. 
  • Interact with your followers by running sponsored giveaways.

    • Adsense and affiliate programs can shut down anytime, but I control the products I create.
    • Redirect all AW's opt-in boxes with gumroad links.
    • Gumroad is where I place my free and paid digital downloads. Eg. E-courses.
    • Gumroad is faster to manage than AW when targeting paid or free followers.
    • Eventually, cancel AW's US$179/year (S$250) subscription before renewal on Dec 2021.

  • Thoughts updated 16 June 2021: Moving from Aweber to Gumroad may be a mistake. The number of clicks I am getting is slowing down.  That's because I have cut off the Aweber autoresponders. Let's merge Gumroad and Aweber instead. 
    • How to Automatically send Gumroad customers to AWeber? I have to use Zapier. Free Zapier is limited. I have multiple lists. So I am not going to use this method.
    • Aweber vs Gumroad Price Plans
      • Gumroad is more expensive than what I am paying for Aweber now.

What did I learn?
  • Use these 10 query words in front of keywords when researching on Google Search... What, Who, When, Where, Why, How, Which, Will, Are, and Can.
  • I am repeating my mistakes. Trying to edit my live videos and wasting time. Don't.
  • Set habit goals instead of destination goals.
  • Streaming and YouTube are my lifestyles. 
  • Tiktok tip - If your account is getting a lot of views and you are not engaging with the comments, Tiktok will stop showing your videos to more people. So I started replying the all the comments that were left in the last 3 days.
  • Whatever we post now will see fruits 3 to 6 months later. How long the fruits last depends on the topic. 
  • I can do one thing at a time. Cannot multi-task. 
  • Drop everything at 5 pm. Switch my mind to a different topic. Switchback tomorrow morning. 🥰
  • The top three gimbals people are searching for DJI OM4, Zhiyun smooth 4, and Zhiyun smooth Q2.
  • These are the topics with million searches. Other brand gimbals videos are slowing down my viewership. 
  • Should I buy the DJI OM4? Is the DJI OM5 coming out soon? The DJI OM4 was released in August 2020, so expect the DJI OM5 to be announced around August 2021. Buy DJI OM4. The number #1 talked about gimbal.
