Zhiyun Smooth Q2 + iPhone 12 Pro Max Face Tracking Review
I am about to document how to use the face tracking feature on the Zhiyun Smooth Q2... and reveal the good and the bad!
First of all, the feature is called Object Tracking, not Face Tracking because the app cannot detect faces.
What does the sales page say? It says object tracking.
Object tracking only works when using the ZY Play app, and not any other native cameras.
I will be exploring Object Tracking mode in various settings.

Tracking Test
- Face and object
- Selfie cam and main cam

Which recording mode does it work in?
- Photo, video, Timelapse,
- It doesn't in panorama, slo-mo, motion time-lapse, although it can be activated.
Which follow mode does it work in?
- It can be activated in any follow mode, but when activated it will go into lock mode every time.
- It tends to be unstable in the ultra-wide camera mode.
Can we activate object tracking any time?
- Object tracking can only be activated before recording
- Object tracking cannot be activated while recording
- If object tracking is activated, it cannot be turned off during recording
Can it track 360 degrees?
Are there any limitations?
It will lose track if...
- I move too fast
- Something gets in the way
Can I use it and help while walking?
- I think that's what it's designed for. So that camera can keep pointing at you while you're walking and concentrating on other stuff.
